Matash builds the brand, on paper, online and on camera. Studio Nalmé designs the space. Both work from your brief, so the cafe you picture is the one that opens.
The Gandabherunda, an ancient mythical two-headed creature, drawn by us in the brand's blue from an old stone carving.
We were given a name. The rest came from a myth.
Mysore Milk Bar came to us as just a name. We went looking for what Mysore already owns, and found the Gandabherunda, an ancient mythical two-headed creature that Mysore has carried for centuries. We redrew it as an old lithograph, among coffee leaves and cherries, and set it in a postage stamp. The colours, the pattern, the menus and the outlet all grew from there.
The same mark, in Kannada and in English.
On every table.
A table menu and two standees, drawn in the same line as the mark.
Standee: juices and panaka
Table menu: coffee and milk

Architecture by Studio Nalmé.
Studio Nalmé is a premier earth architecture studio, specialising in unique, local and sustainable materials. Matash builds the brand from its positioning. Nalmé designs the place itself, drawing on the brand's identity and patterns, so the cafe reads as one, from the street to the counter.
Scalloped arches, the kind you see across old Mysore buildings, frame the windows, the door and the counter. The blue and cream of the stamp carry onto the walls, the tiles and the floor.
Six stages, one brief.
Most new outlets brief a branding agency, an architect, a printer, a photographer and someone for Instagram, one by one. Here, Studio Nalmé starts on the space as soon as the identity is set, while we write the menu, shoot the food and build the website. You're ready to build in six to eight weeks, and Studio Nalmé supervises the build on site.
Press a stamp to see what you get at that stage.
Where are you starting from?
Cafes, bakeries, milk bars, darshinis and sweet shops.
For founders, roasters and estates
Opening your first outlet
One brief instead of four vendors, from the name to the day you open. Roasters and estates opening their first cafe: the brand starts where your coffee does.
We design the format once: the brand, the master store, versions for different site sizes, and a build guide your contractors can follow. Every new outlet opens faster and feels like the same place.
